Sach O DJs at the Shlow End Theory.

I’m not too familiar with Shlohmo as the stoned, downtempo division of Bass music is Jeff’s chamber and he does his job well. I constantly find myself wanting to explore The Low End Theory scene beyond the obvious names but there’s only so many hours in the day and I mean…have you seen my singles list? When it comes to stuff I know, I’m thorough with it (mix coming tomorrow!) In any case, my familiarity with this man’s work is limited to the MP3s posted to this site so I approached this Burial remix with apprehension: some things shouldn’t be toyed with and the tunes of Will Bevan are among them. Plus, In all fairness, I don’t think Brits should be remixing Donuts beats either so I’m an equal opportunity hater. Fortunately, Shlohmo seems well aware of the sanctity of the material and doesn’t mess up a good thing, instead extending the song’s ethereal outro and gently surrounding it with percussive ticks, bass and added vocals until it’s a track of its own. A remix this risky takes balls  or as someone named Shlohmo might say, chutzpah.
