Open Mike Eagle and Has Lo remember seeing you purchase your Juggaknots 12″ at the Fat Beats in 1997. You gave Percee P daps and told Babu that your flow was the illest. They remember you rocking Lugz, a Jansport, and a Rawkus Records t-shirt. You used to worship Talib Kweli and now he’s doing Darth Maul club pop and collaborating with Ace Hood. They remember when you said that Common would never sell out and they know that you bought a turtleneck from the Gap last year. They also know your Sandbox Automatic password.

Thankfully, the two backpacker pasters have the panacea, obtained with only the price of watching the video for “Your Backpack Past’ — from the excellent Fake Four-released 4NML Hospital. Start trap rapping, do a bunch of coke, grow a handle bar, do some more coke, do some heroin, start a bunch of bands. Do that and you might get on Tumblr. You might get a think piece. The world might be your oyster that you might get to eat with Rick Ross and DJ Khaled.

Mike Eagle is relentlessly touring over the next month: first alongside Aesop Rock and then in October, with Nocando and Busdriver. Dates are below the jump, alongside Has-Lo’s new video for “Inherit the Stars.” You can stop watching the Freestyle: Art of Rhyme DVD.  Or keep watching. Just know that you don’t always need to leave the school to get new models.
