We make no effort to camouflage our ardor for the green here at Passion of the Weiss. A drug problem can’t be a drug problem if you make more mistakes when you’re sober. That’s my story and I’m smoking to it. So it’s only natural that I/We/You/ are easily sucked in by a good weed song.

The Philadelphia eminence, Curly Castro understands what Boosie knew: smoking on that purple will ease your mind. So does Open Mike Eagle, who as a former schoolteacher knows what the art teacher’s office smells like. The pair hybridize harmoniously on “My Beloved,” the warm-up track before Fidel, slated for release next month on Man Bites Dog Records (Roc Marciano, MHz). It’s no longer early in the morning, but this Ricky Radio-produced reggae-laced jam combined with a spliff is the best way to be irie. So say 9 out of 10 medical marijuana professionals.
