Will Schube cannot pick just one favorite Police Academy movie

Immediately inserting themselves into the upper echelon of un-Googleable band names, Los Angeles Police Department, have to share internet traffic with the official concert band of the Los Angeles Police Force. Fortunately for Ryan Pollie (the band’s principal songwriter and seemingly the band’s only constant), his band’s arresting blend of psych-folk seems to be more than enough of a distinction. Pollie’s voice falls somewhere between the stylings of Avi Buffalo and Danielson, and on new track “She Came Through (Again)”, his not-quite falsetto works wonderfully the accompanying rise-and-fall harmonies. The guitars boast a heavy, chunky strut, while the ride cymbal drives the simple cut’s two-and-a-half minutes into something genuine and worthwhile. Pollie’s surprise at his subject’s inability to stay away—hence the title—give’s the bedroom recorded track a feeling of extreme intimacy. Pollie’s music doesn’t seem to have any grand ambitions, but after repeated listens to “She Came Through (Again)”. it’s not all that surprising that she can’t stay away.
