Chris Daly will never correct the problem.

It hasn’t been an easy year for Christopher Norwood aka Repeated Measures. While working on his latest opus, the aptly named Collapse, Norwood was repeatedly hospitalized for a medical condition that caused, you guessed it, his lungs to collapse. After a number of surgeries to correct the problem, he was presumably more than motivated to put the finishing touches on this one.

First single “Shady Trail, Half Moon” was recently used as a live installation piece at a local swimming pool, and it serves as the perfect example of the Repeated Measures sound. Norwood creates nuanced layers that evoke the sensation of floating in water remarkably well. Using nothing more than a couple of analog synths and the occasional guitar, Norwood creates a fuller bodied sound with fewer accoutrements than most folks with far more equipment at their disposal. The video is a great extension of this theme. Sure, the occasional shot of Norwood in the pool is a bit jarring, but the warm vibes and soothing designs go hand in hand with the tunes.

Collapse is out 10/28 on the Kone curated New Los Angeles label.
