On my way to see Tame Impala at the crackerbox Silverlake Lounge, so a quick link to this post about Proximal Records, the new beat label in Los Angeles. Their first compilation, “Proximity One: Narrative of a City,” is solid, but Daedelus’ contribution is superb — and another example why it’s impossible to dislike a man with a top hat and Walt Frazier sideburns. Alfred Darlington is the Clyde of the LA beat scene, and “Off Angles Edges” glows and glides like a Chicago house track slowed down and forced to blunt-cruise in the far right lane of the Santa Monica Freeway. –Weiss
