Sach O needs to figure out how this new site works.

While most UKBass producers keep a hawk’s eye on our liberal attitude towards MP3 distribution (come on guys, a 192KBPS sample, please?), Skream just keeps on providing the free music himself. Released on Christmas day, the latest 13 track “Freeizm” album is proof positive that Ollie Jones won’t be content to rest on his laurels and rehash last year’s styles while obnoxious copy-cats drive them into the ground.

Balancing his trademark agression with a return to atmosphere and ideas, Skream’s newest batch hint at a future where darkness again becomes the currency of choice in London soundsystems. There are hints of Joker here but with his analogue warmth jetissoned in favor of frozen textures and evil abstract basslines that don’t even pretend to be funky. Best enjoyed in an East Coast snowstorm wearing hoodies and timbs or in a London fog wearing a Sherlock Holmes costume.
