More rap from kids who memorized Madvillainy. The mask is the obvious tip-off, but the free associative non-sequitur punchline raps make the connection crystalline. Add the profane slang of a group raised on Jackass and The Farrelly Brothers. No Emotion Gold Mask sounds like his name: clunky, deadpan absurdities that refuse to reveal whether they’re joking or serious, even though the answer is obvious. He claims Miramar, Florida on his Facebook page, and surely some intrepid journalist will interview him and unearth some esoteric details that I never cared about in the first place.

See also, Thursday’s post about the subterranean slant of Mr. Muthafucking eXquire. While everyone wanted to pretend that kids were only listening to T.I. and Jeezy, there was a whole alternative narrative of kids who listening to Stones Throw, Def Jux and Rawkus and absorbed the idiosyncracies and are just now spitting them back. Nor is this an either/or thing. I imagine that like Left Brain, a guy like No Emotion is probably equally able to reference Quasimoto as he is Rick Ross. He is a Floridian. About a half dozen videos below the jump, ranging from the strange to the surreal. Some good, some bad, most entertaining. At worst, he will be the rap Tonetta, and that’s not bad at all.
