The return of Spaceghost Purrp, the vowel-averse Memphis vampire, who makes music to commit murders while watching ghost trains whistle by.  According to my iTunes, his latest freeEP is called /SPVCXGHZTPVRRP Presents: GXX XX BXXXX EP Vol. 1. We’ll just call it God of Black. This is something like a devil worshipping doppelganger to that Jet Life compilation from earlier this year. Perma-fried, laid-back rider music that somehow even manages to up the ante of ignorance.

Roughly half the tape features raunchy rundowns of Spaceghost’s sexcapades. This is when he’s at his weakest. If Spaceghost’s “Suck a Dick” series is the Groundhog’s Day of oral sex ballads, his 2012 iteration would have everyone returning to their respective holes. But you don’t turn to Spaceghost looking for lyrics. Besides, the beats on this beast live up to the description on the cover: trillest album in 1995.

The best of the bunch is the opening track, where Spaceghost introduces his Raider Klan’s Gangsta Boo, Amber London over some sinuous G-Funk synths that sound straight out off a Dr. Dre or Celly Cell record. The formula throughout is pretty simple, add G-Funk to Mystic Stylez-era Triple Six Mafia, and the based ethereal float, and flow with rough confidence and blunted instinct. I won’t tell you otherwise: this shit only works when you’re blazed in a car, bumping this shit loudly. But when you do…
