Life coaches are largely a scam. But if I ever needed one, I would want to wrangle Curren$y and Mary Anne Hobbs to keep me focused on the important things in life: passion, hard work, honesty, and how to live for long stretches of time on very little cash. In fact, the latter will be part of my autobiography: “How to Merge the JET LIFE with the Jew Life and Build your 401K!” Coming out in June exclusively for the Nook. Bizarre non sequiturs aside, Mary Anne’s TED talk is at least as inspiring as TM 101 and almost as hard core.

In related news (that reveals my bias), my most recent XFM Global Response segment aired this week. I speak on Julia Holter and the staggering “Marienbad.” Holter’s new record Ekstasis is as good as Mark Richardson said it was. The MP3 of the segment is below. Listen to my voice at your own peril.
