The collaboration that Douglas Martin and myself willed into existence via The Secret no longer remains a secret. I’m not sure how many tracks Dam-Funk and Ariel Pink have recorded together, but I know the mutual admiration bond between the two is tight. The latest one is a swooning cover of Donnie and Joe Emerson’s “Baby.” Dam and Ariel trade off vocals and opt for a reverent rendition of a 1979 slow-jam often described as “Shuggie Otis crossed with Roy Orbison.” It’s pretty much perfect.

Tracks below the jump.
