Philly’s 88 are this year’s candidate for most proudly Ungooglable rap group. I assume it’s the year they’re born or maybe it’s the year their parents told them that rap was the best. Either way, they are not about to confuse anyone with The 88, but I see great potential in the most most random tour imaginable in which fans throw both bricks and cravats post-show in every city.

This is essentially post-Meek Mill mixed with Cash Money mixed with contemporary trap and maybe a little Based God (I’m really only saying that because one of these guys looks vaguely like Brandon). It’s already become something of a minor Internet hit with over 200K streams on Soundcloud. Explanation isn’t hard. They rap very well and provide a solid introductory mission statement. Feeling like Stunna means possessing the sort of precious metals and invincibility that allows you to tattoo on oil derrick on your head. Achilles had nothin on me.

The 88’s mixtape, Still Up Thinking is below. You should probably download it if you miss Philly’s Most Wanted or Major Figgas.
