The Sauce Twinz aren’t about surprises. If you conceived a stereotypically 2015 Houston rap video, you probably wouldn’t be far off from this. No chrome spinners are invoked. But there are shout outs to Screw and enough double cups to keep the great-grandchildren of styrofoam magnates in mink. The hi-hats are in trap triplicate, the gas is unleaded, and the guitars are mystifyingly fake-strummed like they were the heirs to The Shop Boyz. Plus, a Doughboy verse.

There’s something bizarrely comforting about “93” still boasting a mystical tarot quality to it. We went from “93 till Infinity” to 21-year olds born in 93, shouting it out like it was the last year in the Mayan Calendar. The Sauce Twinz aren’t actually twins, nor do they resemble the vocal stylings of Sauce Money. Discuss.

But they do fit well into the new Houston sound — closer to The Outfit TX’s slabs-in-outer-space expansion than the Drake in Kirko Bangz’s cup. They also have a pretty solid sense of humor, doing their own rap version of Zoolander’s Gasoline fight. Orange Mochafrapuccino’s spiked with Actavis. You can check out their mixtape below. Don’t miss the video for their biggest local hit, “2 Legited 2 Quited,” which they will have you know is not mispronounced. When Hammer pants eventually come back, we’ll remember this as the tipping point. The Sauce can be trusted.
