The best DJ mixes highlight the influences of the artist while fulfilling the obvious function of a DJ mix: sounding good. For a group like Peaking Lights, almost every one of their blends plays out like a BBC Essential Mix. Their far-flung DNA reveals itself through French science-fiction funk. prog-disco, soul, pop reggae and more. They might be the closest thing we have to a dubbier Tom Tom Club.

Their latest mix, part 2 in a series of summer jams, combines all those things. It is delirious funky and satin-smooth, the sort of thing that makes you feel like you’re the best party thrown on the island of Martinique in 1978. Friction obsolete. The tracklist and mix are below. Highly recommended with the emphasis on the high.
