January 13, 2017

Chris Daly has more Prince b-sides than you have a-sides.

As 2016 slithers into the rear view and we all anxiously await with bated breath to see what 2017 has in store, let’s take one last time to pour a little out for those musicians we loved who passed last year. To demonstrate just an inkling of what we lost, Stone Throw’s Peanut Butter Wolf put together this stunning mix of tracks by the dearly departed. PBW is a crate digger at heart, and this mix shows both his love for the artists and just how deep his record collection goes.

Anyone could have put “Purple Rain” or “Space Oddity” on their good-bye mix and called it a day.  The Wolf, however, goes hard and finds an unreleased vault gem by Prince and a “Heroes” B-side for Bowie to prove he not only squawks the squawk, but he pimp rolls the pimp roll, too.  Broken into three pieces totaling nearly three hours, this one proves yet again that we all should be glad 2016 is over.  I mean, after a certain point, things can’t get any worse, right?  Right?
