Lucas Foster already has his Best of 2020 list ranked.
MAKINOUT manages to introduce himself on “Pissin Off” as an artist more intriguing than most anyone working in NYC right now. He is a rare artist to enter the game with a mastery of cadence; cadence being an element of rap that I’ve tried to quantify or qualify or define obsessively since Lil Gotit dropped The Real Goat a few weeks ago. Gotit’s ability to spin a passing non sequitur into something gorgeous is what makes his music addicting. MAKINOUT projects to have the same ability.
The chemistry the Atlanta studio disciple has with MAKINOUT hints at a relationship that runs deeper than rap here. I hope to hear more of the same from the both of them in perpetuity.
