Those of you with antiquarian inclinations may or may not remember Frank Fairfield, the baby-faced banjo player who I wrote a feature on for LA Weekly last year.  Seeing that PoW is an epicenter for all things banjo and fiddle-related, I figured that I would link to my Pop & Hiss post on Fairfield’s forthcoming compilation that collects ancient Shellac ’78s from the dirty south to Kenya.  One of the tracks is below and the whole thing is streaming live at Amazon.  It’s ideal escapist music, for the times when the Internet feels like a four letter word and all you want is some snuff. Mmm…snuff.
