Dead rappers get better promotion and so do deported DJ’s. But Kutmah is no Stacks Bundles, having long been one of the most criminally unsung members of the greater Low End Theory world. He already dropped a scorching Low End podcast prior to his detainment, so his return to action comes for Stones Throw and features prevously unheard Madlib, Flying Lotus, Ras G, and Mono/Poly beats. Plus, he even throws in Royce Da 5’9 and Busta Rhymes’  “Dinner Time” for good measure.  The mixing and selection are typically outstanding.

For those skeptical of Kutmah’s merit, I recently spoke to Gaslamp Killer about what Kutmah’s absence means to the scene. Some of it will probably appear in a forthcoming LA Weekly print feature about the saga. In the interim, along with the podcast’s tracklisting, I’m including the quote in full below the jump, because Gaslamp is the most quotable man this side of Noreaga.

“LA won’t be the same without Kutmah. From Sketchbook to Firecracker to Low End Theory to the Do-Over he will be missed. He played countless Art Don’t Sleep events with myself in the mid-00’s that helped shape LA in a whole new way &and some of those sets he played will be remembered forever around our community. I remember him deejayin this party right off the freeway here in LA. Cars were so loud but he just kept turning the music up! His set that night had all of us (B+ , Coleman , Lojero , J. Strong , S. Serrrato & many more of the OGs in LA) with our jaws on the floor. He was not even playing any new joints or anything it was the way he was mixing them. It was like seeing a mix tape being made live by a fucking machine or something. Just perfect. Kutmahs mixing style & musical taste can never be replaced…

Fuck you America. Fuck you hard. Bring kutmah home & give him his life back you fucking cunts. you fucking peasant shitstain fuckface cum sucking whores! — William GLK Bensussen
