Most of them wait for the drop, Son Raw starts straight from the top.

Royal-T will probably drop my favorite album this year and in the specialist world of wot-you-call it UK mutations, it may just very well be the best. While the Grime underground is experiencing a renaissance all-around with producers like Faze Miyake and Preditah delivering devastating beats for emcess, Royal’s production since Orangeade last year has been on some next level shit – lean, aggressive, heart-palpitation inducing and powerful enough to stand-out sans vocalist. Like Skream in 06 he is the wunderkid busily crafting new rules by breaking old ones in new ways and by the time the mainstream music press notices, he’ll be miles away.

Consider this set from Butterz’ second Birthday bash featuring Logan Sama on the mic a chance to catch up: a best-of combining a string of past-hits and remixes to forthcoming material, mash-ups and edits. It’s as all-consuming and energetic as live-sets get, half pure-rave and half rap-concert as the crowd explodes with every new tune and Logan begs for the reloads. By the time his edit/remix/mutation of Dizzee Rascal’s I Luv U drops, it’s impossible not to see this guy as the future. ProTip for aging music-journos lazily name-dropping Skrillex as a synonymous for low-end because they spent the last decade at Vampire Weekend shows: go with Royal-T instead.
