In an era of untenable hype, it’s refreshing when an artist actually lives up. If you’ve paid attention this year, it’s been hard to miss the hype train for Anderson .Paak. Great album, great tour, great features, great artist. Everyone has been telling me that this was a show to see—all around the country, same story. You have to go to shows like that, and let me tell you, the people ain’t lying. This is one of the best tours of the year, fronted by one of the most creative artists we’ve seen in awhile. For everyone that is burned out on false promises or shallow art, look to Anderson. He’ll lead you to safety and will make you dance as he does it. I haven’t seen Portland move like that in years, and that’s saying a lot. —Colin McLaughlin
