Skinny Friedman is in a Parliament cover band.

Here’s “what ‘Redbone’ would have sounded like in Houston in 94”, in which someone put a LE$ loop over the original Gambino joint for meme purposes. And here is Hold Up, My Love, a screwed and chopped tape of Awaken, My Love! from Heath Caring, AKA me and Ray the Destroyer. We had been talking about doing a Gambino project already but we were very inspired by the “Houston in 94” take (hence the Fat Pat album cut and rando Big Pokey freestyle).

We have been doing these mixes for like five years (long ago enough that when we started, it was still cool to swap out your vowels for X’s and V’s). We started with the Drive soundtrack and went on to do rando shit like Pink Floyd’s The Wall and Toro Y Moi’s Nothing In Return, as well as more straightforward projects like a mostly-Makonnen mix.
