Despite Gallup Polls indicating that 83 percent of Passion of the Weiss readers have eaten a latka at some point (77 percent of whom did not refer to it as a “potato pancake,”) we are vaguely aware of a holiday that goes down around the time of the winter solstice. A holiday that involves a jovial and rubicund fellow named “Annual Gift Man” who lives on the moon. In accordance with this bizarre pagan tradition,  we’re offering up some of our favorite seasonal tunes (at least the ones not offered by Herohill’s excellent old school Xmas rap post).

Granted, there is something unconscionable about posting Jim Jones tracks on consecutive days, but there is something even more heinous about depriving people of the opportunity to hear a song called “Ballin’ on Xmas.”If the phrase “a mistletoe in my pants” is too risque to soundtrack gift-giving, there are also tracks from A Charlie Brown Christmas, and the latest excellent Strut comp, In the Christmas Groove. Consider this a stopgap until the first part of the Best Albums of the Year list goes up–hopefully tomorrow. In the interim, we have Jim Jones to remind us that Christmas is about one thing and one thing only: balling.
