Brad Beatson saw what you did there.
When two of your favorite artists tango and drop an unexpected gift, it presents for a drop-everything-and-lose-it opportunity. Then it happened twice this week and I slipped into a hedonistic binge. St. Vincent and Darkside. Action Bronson and Chuck Inglish. The efforts are as good as you could hope for.
Darkside released one of the best projects last year, rated #4 on our Top 50 Albums of 2013 list. Following suit, St. Vincent’s self-titled effort that dropped in February should land in a similar spot (elsewhere) this year. Her vocals become Darkside’s distorted muse, as they transform the radio-ready single into basement club lighter fluid. Bronson and Inglish rate in the top 5 of their respective fields, and here Chuck reaffirms he’s caught a stride with the rhymes as well. I can only hope he brings Mikey back to earth for the upcoming Cool Kids project.
Below the jump are both tracks and a few recent gems from all parties involved.
