Adorned in the sepia shades and black and white schemes of the early Velvet Underground, the Andy Warhol screen tests appear to be the chief inspirations for “Amazing & Wonderful.” Take note Lady Gaga: there is no need to scream “LOOK AT ME, I HAVE READ THE PHILOSOPHY OF ANDY WARHOL TWICE,” unless you take your fans for fools. Then again, when you name your disciples after a Howie Mandel movie….

Midway through, “Amazing & Wonderful” morphs into a Kodachrome Karaoke session. It looks like the sort of thing you expect to happen at Echo Park’s M Dinner House after 3:30 a.m. (RIP), fueled by obscure amphetamines, the power of beards, and a crew of foreigners whose names may or may not contain vowels. Mostly awesome. mostly weird. Peaking Lights’ 936 remains all parts “Amazing & Wonderful.” I actually purchased it with my own money that I made off of screen tests.
